Siesta: Natural Sleep Support for a Restful Night
Siesta is a botanical formulation that supports relaxation and encourages healthy sleep patterns. Its gentle blend of plant-derived ingredients helps create a calming evening routine, allowing you to wake up feeling balanced and refreshed.
Some nights, switching off feels impossible. Your mind won't slow down, your body won't settle, and the hours tick by. Siesta is Vasse Valley's premium terpene formulation designed to support your body's natural sleep rhythms, so you can unwind gently and wake up feeling refreshed.
Built on 20+ years of terpene research and scientifically formulated, Siesta is made entirely from plant-derived ingredients.
A Natural Sleep Supplement Backed by Plant Science
If you're searching for a natural sleep supplement that goes beyond valerian capsules or chamomile tea, Siesta works differently. Rather than relying on a single botanical, it uses a precision blend of terpenes, each chosen for its specific role in supporting relaxation and sleep.
Terpenes are the same natural compounds you encounter every time you eat a ripe mango, sip herbal tea, or walk through a pine forest. Siesta concentrates them into a carefully calibrated formulation that works with your body's own chemistry.
Which Terpenes for Sleep and Why They Work
Here's what the science tells us about what's inside Siesta:
Guaiol
Found in cypress and guaiacum, guaiol has been studied for its calming and sedative-adjacent properties, making it a key contributor to Siesta's evening effect.
Borneol
A naturally occurring terpene found in camphor and rosemary, borneol has a long history of use in traditional medicine to promote calm and ease restlessness. Research suggests it may help support the onset of natural sleep.
Citronellol
A component closely related to linalool (the terpene most people associate with lavender's relaxing effects), citronellol brings the same gentle, calming influence to the Siesta formula. Linalool and its relatives are among the most researched terpenes for relaxation and sleep quality.
Together with Beta-Pinene, D-Limonene, Sabinene, Citral, and Cis-3-Hexenyl-Acetate, these terpenes create a layered, synergistic blend for natural sleep support.
Note: Siesta may cause vivid dreams. That means it's working. It will not leave you feeling drowsy or groggy the next morning.
Natural Sleep Supplements vs. Pharmaceuticals — Why Plant-Based Matters
Many of our customers come to us wanting to step away from prescription or over-the-counter sleep aids. The appeal of natural sleep supplements like Siesta is simple: plant-derived terpenes have been part of the human diet for thousands of years. When formulated with care and scientific rigour, they offer gentle, effective support without the dependency risks or morning fog that can accompany pharmaceutical options.
As with all sleep support supplements, we recommend consulting your doctor before use, particularly if you are taking prescription medications. Hemp seed oil is a mild natural blood thinner, so please discuss with your GP if you are on anticoagulant therapy.
Sleep Isn't the Only Challenge
Siesta is designed specifically for evening relaxation and natural sleep support. If you're also dealing with stress or tension during the day, our natural stress relief formulation, Calm, is a natural partner to Siesta's nighttime routine. And if physical discomfort is getting in the way of rest, explore Soothe, our natural joint pain relief terpene blend, to support comfort around the clock.

What sets Siesta apart?
Siesta is formulated by blending natural plant-based compounds called terpenes — aromatic molecules found in herbs, fruits, and flowers.
Terpenes are natural compounds found in plants, particularly abundant in herbs, fruits, and flowers. They are responsible for the unique aromas and flavours we associate with these plants.
But terpenes do more than just smell good — they are also known for their therapeutic potential. Emerging scientific research highlights a range of possible health benefits linked to terpenes, from promoting relaxation to supporting overall well-being.
Ingredients
Siesta is carried in Australian-grown hemp seed oil and contains the following botanical terpenes:
Guaiol · Citronellol · Beta-Pinene · Sabinene · P-Cymene · D-Limonene · Borneol · Cis-3-Hexenyl-Acetate · Beta-Ocimene · Citral
100% plant-based. Free from artificial additives. Australian-made.
How to Use
In Australia, Siesta is classified as a non-therapeutic cosmetic. Apply 5–10 drops topically to hands, wrists, and neck. Inhale deeply three times. Repeat as needed.

FAQs
Why are dosage instructions different for Australia compared to the US?
In Australia, terpenes are not recognised as foods and cannot be taken orally as a general food product. Therefore, they have been classified as non-medical cosmetic products and must be administered topically.
In the US, terpenes are recognised as being part of the everyday diet through traditional foods. They can therefore be classified as dietary supplements under FDA regulations and can be administered orally.
What is the difference between hemp seed oil and hemp oil?
The terms "hemp seed oil" and "hemp oil" are sometimes used interchangeably, but they can refer to different products based on the part of the hemp plant used and the extraction process.
Hemp seed oil is specifically extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. It provides nutritional benefits due to its fatty acid profile and can be a good source of essential nutrients.
Hemp oil may refer to oil extracted from the entire hemp plant, including the leaves, flowers, and stalks. This type of oil may contain cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol (CBD), which are compounds found in the hemp plant. The potential benefits of hemp oil with CBD are currently being studied, and some people use it for purposes such as stress relief, pain management, and sleep support.
Currently, in Australia, it is not legal to sell unregistered CBD products over the counter. If you are interested in CBD and how it may help you, try our Terpene Tonics first as a cheaper and easily accessible option.
Will I test positive for THC in a drug test?
Eating hemp seeds has little effect on a person’s THC levels ― and never enough to exceed the levels looked for in federal drug testing programs. So rest assured, hemp seed is safe to eat and you can eat it daily and have no risk of failing a drug test.
The Terpenes used in our Terpene Tonics have all been extracted from common herbs and spices and do not contain THC.

Are terpenes or hemp safe for kids, breastfeeding or pregnancy?
Terpenes are in most fruit and vegetables and are generally recognised as safe. While some terpenes may have potential health benefits, the safety of using terpene products, especially in concentrated forms, on children is not well-studied. Therefore, we do not recommend using the terpenes for children under 12.
Likewise for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Due to lack of data it is safest not to use these products.
Hemp seed is safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women, and for kids from the moment they start eating solids. Hemp seeds are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are crucial for brain development in infants.

Are there any known interactions with pharmaceuticals?
As a general precaution, it's always advisable to inform your healthcare provider about any dietary supplements or oils you are considering, especially if you are on prescription medications. Your GP can provide personalized advice based on your health history and specific medication regimen.
Hemp seed oil is a natural blood thinner, so those on blood thinning medication should consult their general practitioner.
